Interfaith Dialogue

This unit will introduce students to living faiths other than Christianity, particularly Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism and Islam. It will also consider theological and ministerial issues which arise for Christians engaging with people from other faiths and cultures. The unit can be taken with a focus on mission, ministry or religious education. Students will focus on the process of dialogue and understandings of spirituality within various faiths. Participants will visit several centres of worship, and will engage in interfaith dialogue as a field project.

Learning Outcomes: 

Upon successful completion of this unit, it is expected that students will be able to:

  1. more deeply understand their own faith tradition
  2. outline the theological foundations and spirituality of at least one other world religion
  3. educate or minister more effectively in their own context and culture
  4. engage dialogically with believers of another faith.
