The MA and MTheol may be taken either as two units + minor thesis (25000 words), or as a major thesis alone (40000 words). Entry to research awards requires prior theological study, and completion of a thesis or research essay of at least 12000 words to Distinction standard (75%).
Prospective applicants should contact the UFT Research Coordinator, Meg Warner, for information about enrolment and for an appointment. Consult the prospectus and regulation on the MCD website for the awards which interest you, and check that you have the necessary prerequisites. Research students are responsible for identifying an appropriate thesis topic and locating a qualified supervisor within the MCD academic staff who is prepared to work with them, although the Research Coordinator can provide advice on these matters. The process of admission to a research degree can be time-consuming, but the time is well-spent as students should begin the degree with supervision arrangements and a coherent topic in place.
Official information and regulations for all courses are found on the MCD website. Course information on the UFT website is for guidance only.
